Mark Pens for Peter Cetera - UNPLUGGED!

Mark recently got a last-minute phone call from old friend Arnie Roth - who was in Los Angeles conducting the Irish Tenors & Three Mo' Tenors at the Hollywood Bowl - to write some arrangements & orchestrations for Peter Cetera's upcoming "UNPLUGGED" PBS Special on Chicago PBS station WTTW's award-winning music series Soundstage. The show features vocalist Cetera (of the band CHICAGO fame, as well as a long solo career) in an acoustic environment - acoustic guitars, acoustic piano and a 44-piece live orchestra! Arnie Roth (music dir./conductor) led many of Chicago's finest sidemusicians through original Cetera hits with arrangements penned by Arnie, Mark and a few other arrangers. It promises to be a great evening of television entertainment! Watch you local PBS listings for an air date.Soundstage Logo

T for TERRORIST WINS "Best Short" at BOSTON FESTIVAL

Shortly after Mark Wolfram finished scoring director Hesham Issawi's latest feature short, "T for Terrorist" (a new and timely short film that explores one possible - and darkly comedic - ramification of typecasting Arab actors in Hollywood) it won the "BEST SHORT FILM" Award at the 2003 Boston International Film Festival.   Mark's score features world renowned Oudist John Bilezikjian and is avaiable on CD from Wrightwood Records. The film stars producer Sayed Badreya, Tony Shalhoub, and Teigen Fraker. To hear music samples from the score online click on the "T for Terrorist" Cover Art. And congratulations to the cast and crew of T4T!

One of Mark's most recent Wrightwood Records CD releases is entitled "KOTO KEYS" - with kotoist Mara Purl & pianist Marilyn Harris. It features over 60 minutes of soothing Japanese Harp and Acoustic Piano Music for Meditation and Relaxation. The CD was produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Mark. The extemporaneous performances were captured using Royer SF-12 and R-122 ribbon microphones for outstanding dynamic realism. To hear samples of the music click on the "Koto Keys" Cover Art.

February 2003 found Mark writing incidental music (along with his partner Marilyn Harris) for A. E. Alfred Wolfram's stageplay, "An American Odyssey." All the music is newly created - in the style of a 1938 dance band and features the fabulous ficticious orchestra Marty Marflow & The Melody Makers, along with vocalist Frau Lili von Lake and vocal trio The Calhoun Sisters. It's a delightful musical journey into a kinder and gentler time. You can hear samples of the music from Wrightwood Records' recent CD release - just click on the "American Odyssey" Cover Art.
